A humanitarian gift
I’ve worked as a peace researcher and educator in Burundi, on and off between 1999 and 2012. Healing after the genocide looked promising.
It’s the 2nd poorest on earth with 10 million strong, struggling people and a breathtakingly beautiful countryside. But sadly, today it is at the brink of civil war, perhaps another genocide. The world knows it and does nothing to prevent it.
During my many visits I took pictures of young women – the natural way they wanted to be photographed. Most had never been in front of a camera before. Arielle above later became Miss Burundi.
With each I have a contract promising them 50% of my sales price here in Sweden. With the annual per capita income being around US $ 200, this can mean a lot to them.
So if you buy one of the 55 images from the website you’ve supported a young person in a poor, violence-stricken land.
