Exhibition # 31 from September 19, 2026, into spring 2027
This exhibition contains about 140 images from the ancient village Shan’ao with just 1500 inhabitants and from Chongqing, the world’s largest city with 32 million people that you may never have heard about.
It exists ‘live’ in my studio as well as online – here on my homepage and on ObergPhotoGraphics’ Magazine on Substack.
You have 6 photo essays with some of these works that I have posted over the past few months- and that is also where you get the background to what led me to these two fascinating places. Below, please find the first batch of works shown only in my studio; more to be posted here up to the opening.
While some may look like collages, I consider them more like main images with notes. I wanted to avoid traditional documentary with one image in each print; to convey the culture, lifestyle and feel of these two places, I needed this type of combi-documentary. I call this genre artful condensed documentary.
On the walls, everything is mixed – large and smaller formats, one from one place, the next from the other place and some mixed – that’s how the contrast comes through, and the same idea is applied below. For the professional viewer, let me say that all images are shot with my Xiaomi Ultra 14 camera (phone), printed on Canson fine art papers with an Epson SureColor P6000 large-format printer – a combination that I am going to refine further in the future.
