PostArt # 78 – After Venice

Venice, Italy – November 25, 2019

Dear Art Friend

Above, an image of the high tide here in Venice. It’s now only a few hours ago that the world’s leading contemporary art event, The Venice Biennale with hundreds of exhibitions all over the city, ended. (Below the entire image, shot close to the Rialto Bridge).

I have been here three times, six weeks in total – at the European Cultural Centre’s (ECC) wonderful Palazzo Mora in front of my SPAR – Silk Peace Art – installation – and dialogued with several hundred people from around the world – and today we are packing the installation back in its crates and storing it here in Venice.

An exceptionally high tide from below and heavy rain from above prevented many from visiting the 170-artists exhibition in Palazzo Mora and Palazzo Bembo this last day of more than 6 months. But anyhow way over 300.000 found their way to Mora alone since the opening in May.

Venice Floods, November 2019

It’s been such a rewarding experience and I cannot express fully my gratitude and happiness to ECC founder, Rene Rietmeyer, for the invitation to participate in the Personal Structures – Identities exhibition and to the fabulous staff here. Everyone of them practises KGB… Kindness, Generosity and Beauty – as well as super-professionalism.

Many visitors have considered this exhibition more diverse, global and positively surprising than the formal Biennale at Giardini and Arsenale.

My SPAR – Silk Peace Art Road – installation has fared very well. I really could not ask for more positive reactions. I’m stimulated to do more and better in the future…

After Venice – the SPAR Tour

Next comes the SPAR tour – getting the installation to be shown at galleries, museums, art spaces or academies along the Belt And Road Initiative (BRI) countries – such as Belgrade, Athens, Istanbul, Damascus, St. Petersburg/Moscow, Tblisi, Yerevan, Baku, Tehran, Ashgabat, Tashkent, Astana, Dushanbe, Bishtek, Islamabad and then around China, perhaps starting out in Xian which is the old capital and starting point of the old Silk Road?

If you know art people in any of these places, please help me with contacts!

SPAR at Lund

The present exhibition at Oberg PhotoGraphics’ studio in Lund consists of the single photos and collages that sit in the installation in Venice plus some other works from China in 1983 and some studies.

Take a look at the new portfolio.

You are most welcome to visit my studio in Lund, Sweden, from Thursday this week
It is open any time – but by appointment only on janoberg@mac.com or phone me at +46 (0)738 525200.

New editions

These are two of many new editions relating to SPAR, China and the Belt and Road Initiative. They are not yet on the homepage and shop, so just contact me. You’ll be surprised that my prices are that reasonable.

It’s exquisite prints on Canson fine art papers, limited editions, numbered, signed in Western and Chinese style and accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity.

It’s possible because I do everything myself – no middleman/gallery profits involved. My works are available only from Oberg PhotoGraphics.

And Christmas is approaching… Do something creative!

Oh, if you missed PostArt # 77 about the many new videos on my Vimeo Channelclick here.

My best

Jan Oberg
